CASE STUDY Alfred Henry Jacobs: Architect

Afred Henry Jacobs: Architect is the first exhibition to examine the career of Alfred Henry Jacobs (1882-1954), a Jewish architect whose vision helped shape Bay Area cityscapes. Jacobs designed some of the first movie palaces and many important homes and businesses in San Francisco, Berkeley and elsewhere. A number of remarkable buildings designed by Jacobs include the Curran Theater on Geary Street in San Francisco, the first house that Ansel Adams owned, the Grabhorn Press Building, and the Winema Theatre in Scotia, CA.

CASE STUDY exhibitions are presented to highlight the holdings of the Western Jewish History Center. Afred Henry Jacobs: Architect is curated by Aaron T. Kornblum.
