Computing and the Practice of History

British and American intellectual and religious historian Professor Daniel Cohen is an internationally recognized leader in digital humanities, and the director of the Center for History and New Media and Associate Professor of History at George Mason University. He has been active in software development, in pedagogy, and in thinking programmatically about the impact of new technology on research in the humanities and the interpretive social sciences. He has developed the principal open-source bibliographic management system Zotero, led the creation of several digital archives, and helped found The Humanities and Technology (THAT) Camp, and he is leading the Press Forward Initiative dedicated to the advancement of web-based scholarly publication.
