Remembering Professor William M. Brinner (1924-2011)

We are saddened by the news of the passing of William (Ze’ev) Brinner, Professor Emeritus of Near Eastern Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, and a long-time friend and supporter of The Magnes. Among his many accomplishments, we are honored to recall his pivotal contribution to the formation of The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life and its expansion in the areas of Jewish life and history in North Africa and the Middle East, and the publication, with Moses Rischin, of Like All the Nations? The Life and Legacy of Judah L. Magnes (1987).
