As a museum dedicated to advancing knowledge of Jewish cultures and experiences, The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life mourns the loss of life in Israel and grieves for families experiencing terror and displacement as we denounce Hamas’s brutal attacks on Israel and condemn calls for violence and support for terrorism everywhere.
Each day this week has brought new horrors. And I, like so many friends and colleagues, have struggled to put into words the complex set of intellectual and visceral responses rooted in generations of trauma that the unfolding disasters have evoked. And while words have not come easily, I am proud to continue our work of studying and sharing Jewish history, culture, and stories unapologetically and uninterrupted.
The wellbeing of our local communities is of vital importance to us. We are here if you need a space to take a break, to reflect or meditate, or to be in community. Our regular hours are:
Tuesday, 11 am to 4 pm
Wednesday, 11 am to 4 pm
Thursday, 11 am to 7 pm
Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm
If you would like to visit or your group would like to gather at the museum outside of regular hours, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will do our best to accommodate special requests.
