Shivtei Shalom was founded in 1982, in Eugene, Or. to create a land-based, rural Jewish community, camp, and retreat center. In 1983, it established Moshav Shivtei Shalom (Tribes of Peace) in Dorena, Or., an organization based on a Jewish spiritual path and which embraced a variety of Jewish practices. It disbanded in 1986.
