Shivtei Shalom miscellany, 1977-1986.

Shivtei Shalom was founded in 1982, in Eugene, Or. to create a land-based, rural Jewish community, camp, and retreat center. In 1983, it established Moshav Shivtei Shalom (Tribes of Peace) in Dorena, Or., an organization based on a Jewish spiritual path and which embraced a variety of Jewish practices. It also supported Jewish arts and education, encouraged a creative religious expression and an interfaith dialogue, and organized a Jewish Women’s Spiritual Convocation (1985), the Joys of Jewishing Camp (1985), mobility international programs, and numerous holiday retreats, fairs, and Shabbaton. It disbanded in 1986.

The collection contains miscellaneous materials from Oregon-based Shivtei Shalom, including organizational bylaws, newsletters, correspondence, and brochures; newspaper clippings; a poster and Garden of Israel ketubah; photographs; and an Oregon Minyan newsletter (1977).
