Join us as we celebrate three centuries of Jewish History in the Czech lands this week! The Magnes is pleased to welcome you to this installment of our PopUp Exhibition Series, which will feature our undergraduate research apprentice Christine Liu, and Daniel Viragh, our post-doctoral scholar. Their presentation will focus on the papers of the Reichl family, whose papers showcase the lives of merchants and travellers from across Bohemia and Moravia between 1620 and the 1880s. The collection shows members of this family adapting to changes in national borders; the Napoleonic Wars; and the 1848 revolutions. Check out the collection here.
About the PopUp Exhibition Series
Each week, UC Berkeley faculty and students, visiting artists and other notable guests present brief lectures focused on selected treasures from the The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life. One speaker and one object at the time, these “flash” exhibitions include the opportunity to view the art and artifacts discussed intimately and up close.
Bring your own lunch, enjoy complimentary refreshments, and take part in an exciting learning program, free and open to the public. Close-up view of collections included.
