Ketubbah (Marriage Certificate, Iran, 1902)

Rectangular ketubbah hand-written in pseudo script, black ink. The text is framed by panels with stylized floral and animal motifs in blue, green, orange, gray, red and brown; the top panel has two lions and rising suns, surmounted by two birds flanking a blue vase with a flower; the side panels include a bird on top of a stylized cypress tree; the bottom panel with floral motifs. The inner border contains a Hebrew wedding formula in square script, framed by separately attached orange paper.
