Born in Tel Aviv, Naomie Kremer lives and works in Oakland. A distinguished painter (MFA, California College of Arts), she is represented by Modernism Inc. in San Francisco. Kremer teaches in France and is collected nationally. Shtetl includes Kremer’s recent video projections composed of digital animations based on drawings after Roman Vishniak’s photographs of pre-war Jewish Warsaw. Kremer breathes life into the lost world of her father’s past, touches upon the deeply personal memory of her father, and reveals the relationship between obsessions in her painting and the family legacy.

REVISIONS is a series of exhibitions at the Magnes in which artists, curators, and scholars are invited to create experimental installations inspired by the museum’s permanent collection.
