Inside Envelopes (2012) 50 min, Dir. Shelly King

This documentary tells the story of two dancer sisters and two musician brothers who come together to create a performance piece. Offering a glimpse into their creative process, replete with fiery arguments and moments of wordless beauty, Shelly King has made a stirring, intimate portrait of acclaimed choreographer Keren Levi, and former member of the Kibbutz Dance Company and longtime resident of the Netherlands.

Let’s Dance (1992) 18 min, Dir. Paul Anders Simma

This documentary traces Israeli dance back to its roots – from the hora circles of the kibbutz fields to the influences of Martha Graham and the avant-garde – exploring how dance has become a vital form of expression in Israel today.

Anna Halprin founded the groundbreaking San Francisco Dancer’s Workshop in 1955 and the Tamalpa Institute in 1978 with her daughter Daria Halprin. Halprin is an early pioneer in the expressive arts healing movement. For the past decade, she has led “Circle the Earth,” a contemporary community dance ritual to confront real-life issues facing participant communities around the world.
